In a Hair Comb, an existing hand connection is guided in a controlled pathway over one's own or the partner's head. The path follows a clear arc rather than being pulled tightly past the head.

The raised connection remains positioned so shoulder and elbow retain natural mobility. Height and distance adapt to the dancers involved.

A Hair Comb is primarily an arm and connection organization. Body rotation occurs only when it is additionally prepared and spatially available.

The hands remain mobile while connected. Excessive grip pressure or a fixed elbow would unnecessarily restrict the overhead pathway.

After the overhead pathway, the hand settles into a relaxed position usable for the next figure rather than being held in an uncomfortable finishing shape.

In a Hair Comb, the connected hand travels over the dancer's own or the other dancer's head area without drawing a horizontal circle around the body axis. This keeps the action distinguishable from an actual turn lead.

The guided arm stays within a comfortable movement range. The shoulder and elbow do not need to be lifted or forced toward a fixed end position.

The hand passes over or near the head without applying pressure to the head or neck. The action resolves through the hand pathway and available arm organization.

Move the hand slowly upward and over the midline while both dancers keep their body orientation.

Use only the height and range actually needed for the hand, head, and shoulder to pass freely.

Is it clear that no turn is being requested, and can the guided arm complete the pathway without shoulder tension or compensating movement?

The hand pathway remains distinguishable from horizontal rotational leading and does not accidentally initiate a partner turn.

The arm can travel over the head and lower again without visible blocking through the shoulder or elbow.

The hand finishes in a relaxed position or connection rather than being pressed onto the head, neck, or shoulder.

Both partners create temporary distance through a controlled break while preserving elastic connection through the hands.
