What matters in Outside Turn
In an Outside Turn, the Follow rotates toward the outside of the shared linear pathway. In a common cross-body organization this rotation moves away from the Lead.
The Follow continues through the intended pathway. Outside rotation is combined with that travel rather than performed as an isolated turn at an arbitrary point.
The Lead prepares the outward direction early enough and keeps the required rotational pathway clear.
The Follow generates rotation through personal steps, weight organization, and axis. Hand connection remains an information pathway rather than the motor of rotation.
After the turn, line, spacing, and couple orientation are clearly reorganized. Actual rotation amount depends on entry and variation.

Body organization in Outside Turn
The follow turns toward the outside of the linear passage. Lead position and connection therefore leave enough room for that external rotational pathway.
The outside direction is prepared before rotation fully develops so the follow can coordinate travel and self-rotation.
Connection can indicate direction and progression but does not replace the turning dancer's support and rotational organization.

Build Outside Turn clearly first
Practice the linear passage first and identify which side must remain free for the outside rotational pathway.
Introduce the outside direction without pulling the follow outward through the hand.
Does the follow have enough room to rotate outward on a personal axis, or is the dancer forced to detour because of lead position or arm pathway?

What to observe in a controlled Outside Turn
The follow receives enough space without having to detour around the lead or beneath a blocking arm.
Directional information remains readable without displacing the follow's axis outward.
After rotation, weight and orientation are organized so linear continuation remains immediately available.
