03 · Technical execution
What matters in Cross Body Lead with Outside Turn
The figure begins with the same spatial task as a Cross Body Lead: the Lead leaves the lane and creates a clear passage for the Follow.
The outward-turn information is integrated into the existing pass early enough without pulling the Follow sideways out of the slot.
The Follow continues traveling through the lane while combining that travel with the outside rotation. Walking and turning remain one continuous action.
The Lead keeps both the linear pathway and the outside rotational track available. Shoulder and arm connection remain mobile.
After the outside rotation, couple spacing and line are restored so both dancers can continue into the next partner action without corrective repositioning.
04 · Body knowledge
Body organization in Cross Body Lead with Outside Turn
The Outside variation also begins with a clear Cross Body pathway. Outside rotation changes rotational direction, not the need for a free passing lane.
The lead keeps the outside rotational area open so the follow does not need to detour around the body or arm.
Connection indicates the outside direction early while the follow organizes axis and weight independently.
05 · For beginners
Build Cross Body Lead with Outside Turn clearly first
Practice the Cross Body Lead with a clear traveling pathway first.
Introduce rotational information without pulling the arm far outward.
Can the follow travel and rotate outward at the same time without losing the linear pathway?
06 · Teaching and feedback
What to observe in a controlled Cross Body Lead with Outside Turn
Lead position and arm pathway do not block the traveling Outside Turn.
The outside rotation is announced in time rather than forced after the fact.
Hand contact neither carries weight nor displaces the axis outward.

From Cross Body Lead with Outside Turn to related movements
A cross body lead in which the follow performs an inside rotation while traveling and then returns to the shared line.
A copa structure resolved into an outward follower turn.
The lead rotates left, keeping rotational impulse small enough to preserve timing and partner relationship without over-turning.
The lead rotates to the right within salsa timing, coordinating foot placement, spotting, and connection so partner communication remains available.
A follower turn toward the outside of the shared pathway, with the lead providing a free and readable rotational track.
The lead opens the pathway and guides the follow through the slot to the opposite side; both finish reoriented toward one another.
A turn whose rotation is briefly checked or redirected through clear lead information before continuing or resolving.
A copa structure resolved into an inward follower turn.
The follow turns left from a prepared axis and completes the action with clearly settled weight on the intended foot.
